Summoning the memory of the EU's establishing fathers' quest for joining in the outcome of World War II, the pontiff said they roused in light of the fact that they had "set out to change profoundly the models" that had prompted war.
Saying he longed for an Europe in which "being a vagrant is not a wrongdoing," Francis said: "Today like never before, their vision rouses us to construct extensions and tear down dividers."
The remarks arrived in a discourse at the Vatican taking after the 79-year-old pontiff's presentation with the EU's Charlemagne Prize for his commitment to European unification.
Having surprisingly chosen to acknowledge the recompense, Francis conveyed an ordinarily hard-hitting message to a crowd of people including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the leaders of the EU's primary organizations, the Council, the Commission, the Parliament and its national bank.

"What has transpired, the Europe of humanism, the champion of human rights, majority rules system and flexibility?" he inquired. "What has transpired, Europe, the home of writers, rationalists, specialists, artists, and men and ladies of letters?"
Getting an expression from essayist and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, the Argentinian pontiff said Europe required a "memory transfusion" to free itself from the enticement of "snappy and simple transient political increases."
What's more, after that reference to the vagrant emergency, Francis went ahead to say Europe needed to on a very basic level change its monetary model.
